Drink problem

A shocking catastrophe occurred in Bull's-head-yard, Charles-street, Drury-lane. Two females, named Jane Supple and Mary Welch, agreed to drink 21 glasses of gin in a limited time. The former person succeeded in drinking 18 successive glasses, when she became quite insensible, and was immediately conveyed to her lodgings, and put to bed, where in about half an hour afterwards, she died. She was far advanced in years. The latter woman also drank more liquor than the former, and now lies very ill.
