Two British subjects, John Hudson and John Jones, were tried under a special commission in Jamaica, on the 29th of July last, for having, in violation of the laws for the abolition of the slave trade, brought some African negroes to that island, for the purpose of disposing of them as slaves. The prisoners were both found guilty and sentenced to transportation; the former for seven years, and the latter for three years. This was the first trial of the kind that had taken place in Jamaica.
